Weirdness! So, the other day I get home and my Sarracenia mitchelliana – anthocyanin free clone, was covered in ants! As to why it had ants on it – I have no idea. I never see ants over my pitchers but for some reason, the ants were there! They were gone the following day, as they were re-located inside the pitcher for a quick snack for the plant. Yum-oh!

[Ants in my Plants!]

There are many interesting studies done with cp’s and ants. In North America, there are some species of ants specific to sphagnum bogs. Like Myrmica lobifrons. If you have a bog like habitat, this is going to become a common occurance, if you look close enough.
Awesome to know Jon! Fascinating stuff, thanks for the info! Yeah, in my neck of the woods, I never see any ants around the plants — only this time. They were all gone the next day though, LOL!
There is supposed to be some kind of symbiotic thing between S minor and ants. also in my experience ants will be caught by most pitcher plants yet seem to escape from S. alata
