{"id":1756,"date":"2011-09-29T00:25:52","date_gmt":"2011-09-29T07:25:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thepitcherplantproject.com\/blog\/?p=1756"},"modified":"2011-09-29T00:42:47","modified_gmt":"2011-09-29T07:42:47","slug":"until-next-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thepitcherplantproject.com\/archive\/2011\/09\/until-next-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Until Next Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thank you SF Giants for a good season.\u00a0\u00a0 There were many memorable moments this year, one of which was that I was able to take both of my sons to their first baseball game \u2013 we witnessed the debut and the rise of VogelSTRONG. And my kids LOVED it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ahh&#8230; 137 days left until pitchers and catchers report to spring training. Refocus, recharge, and RECLAIM in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, it was good.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve done so much and battled through a lot of injuries that were sustained this year. That combined with a lack of offense diminished our post season hopes&#8230;\u00a0 but hey, it happens.\u00a0 And yes, I&#8217;m still a little emotional about it. \ud83d\ude41 Fellow gardeners, if you&#8217;ve been following me on twitter (@Sarraceniadude), you&#8217;ve probably been a victim of my in-game tweets\/SF Giant tweets.\u00a0 Hey, I can&#8217;t help it.\u00a0 I love this team!\u00a0 (Go Giants!!)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But let&#8217;s back up here &#8211; baseball and gardening?!? <em>Baseball.\u00a0<\/em> Really? Well&#8230; I do grow and hybridize my own <em><strong>*PITCHER*<\/strong><\/em> plants!\u00a0 So why not?! Get it? Pitcher? Baseball? HA! (Womp womp!) &#8230; But yeah, there were some SF Giant inspirations and parallels that could be drawn with my garden.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6011\/6193850073_d3471f0bcc.jpg\" alt=\"RallyPot\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\"> [RALLY POT WILL BE BACK WITH A VENGEANCE IN 2012.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p>-#Rallypot worked some magic this season. Obviously not enough, but it will be back next year, with a vengeance. I ask you this faithful SF Giants fans &#8212; what should I plant in it?\u00a0 Something that would make Timmy proud? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">-Injury plagued\u00a0 the SF Giants this year.\u00a0 Injury plagued my plants this year.\u00a0 I lost a lot of hybrids and flower buds in the hail storms, dashing my (post season) hopes of harvesting seeds. For example all the flower buds from S. &#8216;Adrian Slack&#8217;, S. &#8216;Leah Wilkerson&#8217;, &#8212; along with other buds of MANY select Sarracenia &#8212; gone.\u00a0 (<a href=\"http:\/\/thepitcherplantproject.com\/blog\/2011\/02\/17\/oh-hail-yeah\/\" target=\"blank\">Damn hail&#8230;<\/a>) In looking back, it probably shocked the plants which caused many of them to abort their buds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">-It wasn&#8217;t my best year because of that.\u00a0 Lots of recovery being done this year&#8230; but next year looks promising.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">-Although there were many injuries, a couple pitcher (plants) really surprised me this year with exceptional growth and pitching. Er, pitcher-ing I should say. They came outta nowhere!\u00a0 Quite inspirational&#8230;\u00a0 (Very Vogelstrong-esque!)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">-I&#8217;m noticing more orange and black plants and themes appearing in my garden. (I wonder why&#8230;? Hahah!) and once I amass enough of this color scheme, I&#8217;ll have my own SF Giants theme section in my garden going on.\u00a0 I plan on taking my dark\/black plants and breeding them with orange tone plants next season &#8211; once I can get &#8217;em to flower. Perhaps name a clone of that after this team!?<\/p>\n<p>-Facial Hair. That is all.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; The <a href=\"http:\/\/thepitcherplantproject.com\/blog\/2011\/05\/28\/pollination-tools\/\" target=\"blank\">FINGER<\/a> was used to successfully pollinate plants. The <a href=\"http:\/\/thepitcherplantproject.com\/blog\/2011\/05\/28\/pollination-tools\/\" target=\"blank\">FINGER<\/a> you say? Yeah, click that link. The <a href=\"http:\/\/thepitcherplantproject.com\/blog\/2011\/05\/28\/pollination-tools\/\" target=\"blank\">FINGER<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">-When hybridizing and there&#8217;s a hybrid I can&#8217;t create, my mantra is &#8220;There&#8217;s always next season.&#8221;\u00a0 Same thing could be said after the last out that sealed our fate this season on Chase field.\u00a0 After a few choice expletives of course.<\/p>\n<p>-Later in the season, The SF Giants pulled up some young hopeful prospects that showed great promise.
